Tetanus is a deadly infectious disease, causing nervous system toxicity by toxigenic Clostridium tetanus. Tetanus can be infected at any age. Even in the modern society with strengthened monitoring condition, its fatality rate is still very high. The prevention of tetanus mainly depends on antibodies, and can only be realized by active immunization (tetanus vaccine) or passive immunization (tetanus specific immune globulin). Tetanus vaccine is a detoxificated toxoid, which can induce protective antibodies.
